Kakes NYC was dreamed up during the pandemic and opened in Long Island City in June 2022 — born from a pastry chef’s obsession with dessert and a team that knows how to throw a night.
Our founding pastry chef spent more than a decade perfecting the craft in some of New York’s most celebrated fine-dining kitchens — the kind of training you can taste in every plate.
When the city shut down, those desserts went out to pop-ups around town — and kept selling out. That momentum, paired with a seasoned hospitality team, turned an empty Long Island City storefront into Kakes, built from the ground up. The doors opened in June 2022, and it’s been a ride ever since.
Word traveled fast. Guests started flying in from all over the world, and the room filled with the kind of nights people don’t stop talking about.
Kakes has hosted everything from a Remy Ma–headlined event to a VH1 Black Ink Crew shoot, comedy nights with Power 105 DJs, and a steady stream of celebrities, creators, and first-timers who came for dinner and stayed for the show.
